Biography
Hanes Consulting & Tax Service was a family owned and operated firm until January, 2007 when Pat Divito joined the firm as a partner. As such the name changed to Hanes, Divito & Associates, LLC. The business was established in 2000, and was managed by Jacob M. Hanes as a Limited Liability Company. The firm started out serving clients in the Puyallup, Tacoma and surrounding communities in the areas of Bookkeeping, Income Tax Preparation, and Small Business Consulting and Tax Planning, and now serves customers all over the Northwest.
Jacob (Jake) graduated with honors from Central Washington University with a degree from their distinguished Accounting program. Before establishing his own practice in 2000, he worked in the private industry for 10 years, which included accounting system implementations in many unique industries. Having supervised the financial operations of successful businesses in several industries, Mr. Hanes is very knowledgeable in all areas of taxes and accounting, including business consulting and financial statements, state and local business taxes, individual taxation, entity classifications, and corporation and partnership taxation. The firm focuses on its ability to help the small business owner build a solid foundation and increase in profitability. Mr. Hanes and the firm actively support the Boy Scouts of America.
Patricia (Pat) Divito has spent the last 25 years involved in the tax field. She originally worked for H&R Block as a preparer, instructor, and office manager for 20 years. She received her Enrolled Agent status with the IRS in September, 1993. After leaving H&R Block, Pat ventured into the oil industry managing accounts receivable for three years and then on to accounts payable at a composite manufacturer only to come back to the field she loves - income tax.
